Week full of kids

Aktualisiert: 1. Nov. 2022

Hello and good morning, everyone! I´m very sorry that the blog just comes today, but I didn´t get to finish it yesterday. Sincere apologies.

I think I ´ve already told you in my last blog, that I got chosen, to be a first-year mentor in the school. (If not, now you know). Because of that, I was lucky enough to go on a Trip with them (the first years, aged 11-12) to Dublin Zoo. I had to mind a group of 7 kids and they were all so well behaved. Honestly, I know from what I´ve seen, that not all of the other kids were as nice and respectful as mine. They were just brilliant and we had a wonderful time! One of my biggest worries in advance was, that we would get lost, since I´ve never been there before. I have to admit that we kinda went wrong at the beginning, but it didn´t really matter, because as we walked past some cages a second time and on our second round all the animals came out and we got to witness lions fighting, wolves playing catch-me, seals screaming, …. That was amazing! I really enjoyed the trip and hope the kids had a good time as well. They were lovely, I can´t say that enough times.

Apart from that, I had work experience like every Friday. This week, I spend nearly all of my time designing the boards. I´m still getting used to the fact, that I´m drawing something and you can actually figure out, what it is supposed to be. The boards turned out decent I´d say :)

We (my host sister, and a Spanish friend) are also doing kind of a junior company for a school project. Our concept is to paint flowerpots and create a sustainable gift. This week we shot a short video to enter the competition. It was a bit challenging, considering the short notice we got, plus my host sister and the spanish friend were sick all week. We got the video in the end and sent it in on time, so everything is fine.

The week was full of kids. My host parents went to a wedding on Saturday and I got to babysit the little ones (Philip and Caitlin). We had so much fun and I enjoyed the bonding time so, so much. We played Tennis, Basketball, danced around, we even went on a bike ride, which was entertainment on it´s finest, as my host brother started complaining that his legs are killing him about 500m in. He still made it and was happy in the end. The duck song got us through it,so we arrived back home with smiling faces:) They were tired afterwards and I had them in bed at around 10:30 p.m. after a good movie night. (For those of you who I haven´t talked to as much, my host family usually goes to bed at least after midnight on the weekends, so 10:30 p.m is quite early for them). It was a good evening.

I don´t think much more exciting happened this week. We went to Blanchard’s town yesterday and I finally bought myself the Jack and Jones hoodie I´ve walked past 10 times before. I finally have it and it feels extremely cozy. Blanchard’s town is a gigantic shopping area, where you can get almost everything. There are so many shopping centers and shops, that you are barely able to get to go to all of them. If you want to you can google it.

Well, I hope yous are having a good time. For those of you, who already have holidays, enjoy them and for those of you who don´t, keep going, you can do it! It´s only three more days :)

With lots of love as always Emma <3
