Trips

Good evening everyone,

The last week was very busy and full of events. With the 3-4 world cup matches each day, it can get a bit tricky to balance everything else. But fortunately, I got through well and got everything done. On Monday I went to Navan after school and did some shopping for presents. It was nice to spend some time alone and I finally bought myself a drink from a coffee shop. Since some weeks I always wanted to hold a coffee shop cup in my hand and walk with it. I don´t know why and it sounds so random, but I was very happy to hold my cup. The drink was fine as well in case you are wondering;) I also did some craftwork during the week and I have to say, I would consider it as decent work. They are no master pieces, but can be seen, so it´s fine by me.

Probably the best day of the week was Thursday. We didn´t have school because our year went to Croke park as a trip. Croke park is the third biggest stadium in Europe and it was absolutely terrific to get such a detailed insight. The Irish really are able to do tours. We got to go through the dressing rooms and down to the pitch. Then we even went up on the roof and had an amazing view over Dublin. It was just brilliant! First class treatment, I´m telling you. And it´s hard to top that but believe it or not it got topped. I could walk through Dublin in the sunshine, listening to music, knowing I´m on my way to see my dad. He came over with some of his mates for some days and I stayed with them for a night. It was cool to see them again and I had a magnificent time. First, we went into Church-café. The food was delicious and the location impressive. We went on to go to the Jameson distillery and again, the tour was very well done. For the rest of the evening, we went “Pubbing”. At least that´s how I call going from Pub to Pub. The whole day was perfect and I had such a good time. The smile got bigger and bigger by the minute. I stayed with my dad for the night and even got the chance to spend the Friday up in Dublin as well. That gave me the opportunity to drive with an Irish train. All of us took the train for 20 minutes to Howth. It´s a gorgeous place on the coastline. It´s idyllic! We did the walk around and got to see so many beautiful things. My highlight was when I saw dolphins in wild nature, for sure. I couldn´t even believe it at first, but there were dolphins playing around and seals swimming in the sea. It was so, so cool. The whole trip was just amazing! It was a good ending to the time with my dad. I stayed up in Dublin a bit by myself until my host father picked me up. It was black Friday and as our hotel was in the middle of the city, Dublin was alive! It was nice though and I enjoyed my time.

Then on Saturday, I went on a trip with my agency, so with other exchange students. We went down to County Wicklow and went to a beautiful waterfall there. I don´t know the name, but it was a quite big one and I adored the nature and the forest around. The place was almost magical. I also got on really well with the other students and talked to some of them for hours. That was a relief for me. The bus then drove us to Glendalough, which is an old monastery place in a forest. The weather was typically Irish yesterday, but that only made the whole experience even better. When I got back on the Bus, I was absolutely soaked. But there is worse in life. Well, the whole trip was good and I could write on and on. The same counts for the days in Dublin. I´ll leave it like that and hope to tell most of yous the details on the phone. I´d really love that, so call me up if you want to. I´m more than delighted when I hear from home.

Today, my host-sister played in the Gaelic County Final with her school. The game was in the main stadium of the county and believe it or not, there were even seats there. The seats were even under a roof! That is absolutely rare in Ireland. The game was good, but the girls sadly lost. They still can be very proud of them.

After the match, I coincidentally met another exchange student in my small village and we got to talk. We even talked so much that we started walking and ended up doing a full walk and talking about everything and nothing. I really liked that. She is such a nice girl and it was just lovely to speak to her.

So that´s my week briefly. As I wrote, I could go so much more into detail, but Germany is playing Spain and I really want to watch that. I hope you can understand that or at least, that it´s okay for you.

With only the best Emma<3
