an intense week

Lovely Sunday everyone from the surprisingly sunny Ireland :)

The week started full of enterprise again. On Monday my group got asked to represent the school on a media launch, so me and my friends went to Navan and met the Irish minister of Business, Enterprise and Employment. That was pretty amazing and we had a great time. We got some pictures taken, by a professional photographer. He was mad (crazy) and I had a constant laugh flash, just because of the things he made us do. I even balanced a pot on my head. But it was totally worth it in the end and our pictures went viral in our local area. So now, many people know us as the enterprise students from st. Ciaran’s, which means the pictures did their advertisement. Now we just have to pray for some orders. We´re doing quite good with everything and just have to sell the pots now (Which is much harder than it actually sounds, but we can do it). It continued on Tuesday when we went to a semi-final of the county enterprise challenge. We had to do a pitch of our business and present the business to judges. Fortunately, it all went well. We had the talk in kind of a conference room and there were classes just watching us. The teachers complimented us and on Friday we got the message, that we got through to the final. That´s cool. We´ll see how we get on with that, but knowing our team, we won´t struggle too much. It is an amazing opportunity and it´s a huge honor, to represent our school and maybe even county in the competitions.

I also had the first Gaelic-training in school. It´s similar to the basketball training. The team consists mostly of exchange students, but different to the basketball, Gaelic isn´t played worldwide, so we have to start with the very basics. I mean, at least I get to learn, how it´s done properly now and it´s fun.

The week went on and so did life. In school we finished up with some subjects and wrote some tests. God bless, they weren´t hard. The teachers must have had a conference though and decided to be a bit stricter on us. I mean, it´s not too much to ask the students, to actually do some work in school and not just sit around and do some BS. It was a weird realization how fast you get used to stuff. In Austria it is completely normal, that we participate in the lessons and get so many things done. Here we sometimes did absolutely nothing. It was nice and easy, but the learning effect wasn´t focused on the academical part (which is brilliant, when you focus on the essential life skills). Nevertheless, it was so weird when the teachers suddenly reacted and raised their voice at us. I think it did the class good.

I survived the week with a gigantic lack of sleep and was very happy when the weekend came. Work was absolutely terrific as always. I did the big board behind the counter, that everyone gets to see. I´m lowkey proud of that. For my standards, it is a piece of art. That made me happy. I also had the house to myself on Saturday and I had one of the best days. At the end of the day I was truly happy. That was such a big relief. That last two weeks haven´t been too easy. I want to keep it real here, because an exchange year isn´t just a fairy tale. It is absolutely gorgeous most of the times, but there are some downsides too, just like with everything elese in life. I think I noticed that this week especially, because I had a big clash with my host sister (the German one). But don´t worry, we talked afterwards and it´s fine now.

I want to finish off, with something good. Yesterday I went for a run again and I don´t know why, but I had the best time. I was smiling all over my face and I was just flying.

How is everyone doing in Austria? I hope yous have it good and yous are enjoying life

With all the best Emma <3
